Hillcrest Garden started in the late nineties with a group of neighbors who didn’t want Grand Rapids Public Schools to sell the land to developers. Every year, returning gardeners get first dibs on the plots, then the remaining plots are open to the direct neighbors in Fulton Heights, and then it expands to the wider community.
