Ottawa Hills, a neighborhood located within the city limits of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Kent County, occupies land that once made up the Grand Rapids Golf Club. The Ottawa Hills Neighborhood Association was established in 1972 to help preserve the neighborhood’s unique character and prevent decline. To this day, the Ottawa Hills Neighborhood Association sponsors many local events throughout the year including an Ice Cream Social, Garden tour, the Hollyhock Lane Parade, and Friday Night Neighborhood Happy Hours.
The Ottawa Hills Neighborhood Association is also working toward a goal of 90% tree canopy by 2040. The OHNA partnered with Friends of GR Parks, a non-profit that works with the Grand Rapids Forestry Department, to help make this goal possible. These trees will not only bring beauty to the streets of the Ottawa Hills neighborhood, but also help homeowners save energy, improve the air quality, and keep the neighborhood cooler throughout the summer.
