Is Everyone Moving to Grand Rapids? And other places they’re moving to in 2024!

Have you been wondering if everyone is moving to Grand Rapids in 2024? What are the other hot spots people are choosing to move this year? Today we’re going to be covering the top four places people are moving, why they’re choosing those places, and where they’re moving from.

Florida

The first state we’re going to cover is Florida. Florida had the most cities ranked in the top 25 fastest-growing places rankings by US News. People are moving to cities like Tampa, Fort Myers, and Miami. Sunny and warm weather, beautiful beaches along its coasts, a wide range of outdoor activities, vast education and job opportunities, and no state income taxes are what typically attract both tourists and new state residents. Much of the interest in many Florida metro areas comes from retirees, largely due to the tax advantages the state provides and the many retirement communities throughout the state.

Texas

The second state that is attracting many new residents is Texas. According to CNBC, Texas is the number one growth state for the sixth time in the past eight years. Austin, Dallas, and Houston are attracting the most new residents. One of the key reasons people are moving to Texas is its economic opportunities. The state is home to the most Fortune 500 companies and is a growing base for a number of industries, including tech and aerospace. People are also moving to Texas because the state doesn’t have a state income tax, it has business-friendly policies, a diverse landscape and outdoor recreation opportunities, a passionate sports culture, and of course, its warm and sunny climate.

Vermont

Number three on our list today is Vermont. According to the United Van Lines study, the state most Americans moved to over the past three years was Vermont. Most new residents are moving to Burlington and South Burlington. 29% of the respondents reported they moved to the Green Mountain State to be closer to family and 20% were looking for a lifestyle change. The state is also attracting new residents because of its diverse natural beauty, small-town culture, outdoor recreation opportunities, environmental consciousness, great work-life balance, and educational and career opportunities.
