Forest Hills Northern High School boasts several famous alumni, including three NFL players and NASCAR driver Johnny Benson. Hugely successful in its Model UN program, the school has swept the Model UN circuit and sent delegates to compete in China, gaining notoriety from Harvard, Yale, Cal Berkeley, and Georgetown. Northern’s debate team also has a history of success, winning the Zieglemueller Award in 2007 for the best debate team in the state of Michigan.

The athletics program at Forest Hills Northern High boasts all the usuals, but excels in tennis, cross country, volleyball, cheer, gymnastics, hockey, swimming, lacrosse, and track.
