Step 2: Set Up a Home Search

Step two, we will set up your home search. This is where the fun begins. We will discuss your wants, needs, and location for your new home, and then we’ll set up that search based on those parameters. We’ll talk about everything from bedrooms, to bathrooms, to school districts, and all of the other details that you want in that next home. We relocate people to town at all times of the year, and when possible, we like to get ahead of the situation, meaning even if we know somebody’s not moving to town for 3, 4, or even 5 months, we will get them set up on the home search to get familiar with the market.

Step 3: Connect with the Right Lender 

Step three, we want to make sure you are aligned with the right lender. If you are financing your mortgage, it’s really important to have a great lender to support you along the way. We work with a lot of great, reputable local lenders and are always happy to make introductions to help you find the right lender for you and your needs. We have unfortunately seen far too many times where someone goes out and finds a home that they’re excited about but because their financing isn’t ready, they have to take a big pause and potentially miss out on that dream home. Let’s get ahead of that situation and help find you a great lender. 

Step 4: Tour Homes & Analyze the Market 

Step four is where we get to start having some fun touring homes and analyzing the market. This is important in the relocation process and because we are helping people who are moving from all over the country, our team are experts at giving video tours and structuring the process in a way that works for each client situation. We’ve assisted many clients who get their first look at a home through a video tour before seeing it in person. Some clients will come to Grand Rapids to tour the various neighborhoods and many homes at once. Regardless of what works best for your situation, we’ll help get you familiar with the West Michigan market, tour some homes, and analyze the availability of what is on the market.

Step 5: Offer and Closing 

Step five, once we have found the perfect home, we’ll work through the offer and closing process. This is, obviously, a very important part of the process as we analyze the market in detail for you, come up with competitive pricing and offer strategy, and work to secure that home for you. Once we have the accepted offer, our team is going to walk you through the whole process from inspections, to financing, the closing process, and making sure that process to the closing table is as smooth as possible.
